What is the wiring pair on the left side in the trunk hinge?
I'm stumped even after searching the wiring diagram. There are two wires going in and out of the left drivers side trunk hinge assembly. One us a orange with green Trader, the other orange with either ref or purple tracer. The ends going forward are bullet male ends, while the longer wire that goes rearward has a female right angle jack. I find nothing that either one of these plug into. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks, Bill

I was thinking the same thing, but even my parts manual for a Series II doesn't show a part number for such solenoid. As it turns out, I have to replace that hinge anyway, so that wire will just go away.
Good thought, but... why would they be running through the lid hinge? I would only think it would be running through the hinge to get into the back of the lid for something (like the passenger side is with the license plate lights and reverse lights and trunk lid lights). I'm now thinking that maybe some PO had changed that hinge with an S3 hinge and it was wired for a trunk latch solenoid. I will never know. But at this point I don't care because I've troubleshot that hinge has being well worn and needing replacement anyway. Have contacted David at EverdayXJ or another. But I appreciate the response and thoughts. Thanks
I just looked at hinge arm pin and there is no room to work on repairing elongated hole with hinge installed. I think you have solved another mystery as to some reports of Lid opening to stops at 31-33" then settling to 28"on the springs.
