I'm in the process of getting prepared to replace all the rubber fuel lines under the hood on my car. It looks like a phillips head but I have never seen one of these type screw heads before, and certainly don't have a Phillips screwdriver that big. It looks to be something I don't own, and will need to get.

 

They are referred to as POZIDRIV (a registered trademark of the Phillips Corp).
Should be a #3 or #4 POZIDRIV?

 

Yes, clearly pozi. Just about everything on a Jaguar that looks like a phllips is actually pozi. The usual way to tell is there is a hash mark at 45 degrees, but I don't see it on this head. However, the small cut-out at inside of the cross indicates it's a pozi

I call the Tool to undo those Fasteners 'Star Keys' although I think the Correct Name is 'Pozi Drive' which I wouldn't mind betting you already have, if you have a look in the Case that your drill came in (on the assumption that you have an electric drill) with an array of those seemingly useless Screw Driver thingy type bits

Or even better, one of those small Sockets Sets, that nearly always include that type of thing

Though if you need to buy these Bits, they come in a Set like Allen Keys and very, very, useful they are to, as they also undo one end of the Sway Bar on an XJS and more besides

 

Pozi is common in Europe, but quite rare in North America, and the OP is in the USA. I have had to go to specialist tool dealers or buy in the UK to find Pozi screwdrivers and sockets.

Ikea is actually about the only common source for those bits in North America, but you won't find them that big.

All pozidrivspozidriv thru #3 are in the hex bit set that Harbor Freight sells for $10. The set is in a red blow-molded case. They are also in the long hex bit sets at Harbor Freight.

Don't use standard Phillips screwdriver a on any original fastener on your XJS. You'll round them out. Get used to only using pozidriv bits.

 

l think it is actually a pozi drive screw. Not sure which number. You may get it with something close if you give it a rap on the head beforehand.
vice grips will loosen it with little to no damage if you want the easy way out.
edit. Looks like l was late to the show. Something odd going on with my post as there were no replies to OP when l posted but multiple replies appeared along with my own.

 

Bit named PH3 or PH4 (i think PH4).

 

PH is Phillips, PZ is Pozi.

 

Those buggers are always stripped! And the steel loves seizing in the aluminum. Must be a PZ4 because I have set PZ0-PZ3 and it wasn’t big enough. Ended up getting a giant Phillips impact screwdriver at Harbor Freight to break it free.

 

Where ever possible I change the giant pozis to hex headed stainless bolts. Highly recommended.

 

I have removed mine and slung them in the bin. Replaced with a new bolt. They seem to be made of cheese I tried with a screwdriver and the head just mashed up so removed them with a pair of mole grips.
