Default Only unlock driver's door?

Ok so one thing I don’t necessarily like about my 97 xk8 is that if I stop somewhere after driving and go to open my door, both my driver’s and passenger door unlock. Is there a way to make it where I just unlock my driver’s door when I get out? Maybe being a little paranoid, but oh well

Timeisrelative,

No idea on that one. In my car, the passenger door opens, for the passenger disembarking, whether the driver's door is locked or not. Not sure if you're trying to have child locks and be a good safe parent......Hmmmmm

FWIW You're a bit picky! Not a bad thing for our X100! Considering when you lock the car, both doors lock at same time ............… then what is the issue?

I did read somewhere that it is possible to set the car so it doesn't lock the doors, when driving, or after you've put it in N. However I suspect that was a dealer option at the initial hand over (that was 20 years ago!).

It's more of the thought that as soon as I stop somewhere, say a mall parking lot, I go to get out and some thug opens the passenger door and jumps in. I know it's a worst case scenario, and they could just as easily approach the driver's door and wait for me to get out, but people are stupid. I would rather it just unlock the driver's door, then maybe both with a second pull or whatever if I was actually letting a passenger in.

You would need to have a dealer level diagnostic to enable/disable the features for your car.
Some cars have more features than others. I used to tell the Showroom Sales guy to get the customer to the shop to enable/disable the features all at ONE TIME so they didn't come back repeatedly and waste time and get charged for shop time. Customers can see what the difference each one has. Then they can decide if it is right for them.

I could turn things on or off and they could actually see it and not just read about it.

Wow! There are a lot of things on there that I never knew were available to do or undo! I wish there was a way to make my rear view mirror stay in night mode! Too many people with LED lights around here 😠. I do wish it had a lever or something like the good old way

There are two sensors on the mirror, front and back. You could try putting some black tape over the sensor on the front (windscreen side) to make it think it is dark outside and leave the other sensor uncovered so that still gets light - that should trigger the dimming.

Looking at the list, am I right in thinking that the car can support one-touch up on the driver's window?
