Default Throttle Position sensor

I was wondering about my TPS, and Googled it. I found many types and prices, even reworked sensors. What is the skinny? Are some knock-offs that aren't worth shipping?
I read the Denso is a direct replacement and cheaper parts only have one resistance strip. Any recommendations? I hate spending more than is really necessary.

in Denso we trust.

this forum is full of woeful tales of electrical failures that were caused by using cheap(er) parts, cheaper than Denso.

Some of the OEM Denso parts are no longer available. But if you can find genuine Denso parts you are better off paying more now, instead of much more later.

Are you seeing a DTC?

I've attached TSB 303-58 that may apply.

The TPS part # is DENSO 198500 - 3250, I think.

edit: added 303-S498

Here's a thread from when I had a 2001 XK8 with TPS issues. Steve (steveinfrance) dismantled my TB to determine the cause of failure.

Interesting to see how little it takes to stop the TPS working.

No, but I'm checking all sensors on my car and like to be prepared somewhat because I have questions on cars at 100k mi.

Actually, considering how many times one moves in 100k mi, I think they are pretty tough.
My concern is availability of a replacement.

About all you can do unless you want to gamble on a used Throttle Body.
I have some experience and equipment to work on surface mount electronics. If I could get a bad unit, I'd try a repair on one.
