What is the purpose of this secret compartment under the valet button?
So I was hunting in the dark for the hood release and instead opened this previously unknown compartment. Unfortunately there were no wads of c-notes or bags of white powder, it was just empty. I looked through the owners manual and find no clues. What is the intended purpose of this left knee luxury amenity? Secret compartment
Thanks for posting! As many times as I have been under my dashboard and never noticed this is unbelievable. When I read your post went right out to the car to check it out and sure enough there it was so I tried my sunglasses and they fit right in and the compartment closed easily. Felt lined and everything. I love it!
😀😀😀😀😀😀
I was surprised also by that mention of the cargo net. I've had my 2006 XK8 coupe four years and have not discovered it. The PO alerted me about the sunglasses stowage compartment and I love it. I keep my Serengeti Drivers in it, in a little drawstring pouch. In case I lose them, however, I keep a spare pair in the main glovebox.
Of course Graham's sunglasses won't fit have you seen them ? !
Not even close.
I wear strong prescription bifocals so I always have a second identical pair made up as sunglasses. Naturally I don't just stuff either pair into a dashboard compartment without first putting them in the case and this has never fitted in the Jaguar stowage compartment.

I don't think I've ever seen a car with sunglass specific compartment that fits the case. On the other hand, a sunglass pouch fits without any problems, not that I think it's necessary. I've been chucking my Ray-Bans into that compartment for the past 8 years on two different X100s and they don't have a single scratch on them. I guess it doesn't matter anymore because you no longer have an X100.
