Default Smell of "clutch burn" in car

Hi all, new to here so seek collective advice, my xk8 has a distinct smell of "burnt clutch"after several minutes of normal driving, the smell reduces when I turn the heating down, also amber signs of no " ABS" and no "ACS" come on at intervals. The warning lights don't affect the performance, nor does the burn smell, (apart from a "grabbing" effect when pulling away at times) any advice would be appreciated as the car as a whole is awesome, cheers.

Tony,
If my car was acting like that I would park it and not drive it again until I repaired whatever is burning!

Someone will be along soon to direct you to our Xk8 section where members can help you figure this out.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome.

I am with Elinor here.

My first thoughts are the park/hand brake is not fully releasing at teh caliper. Very common on the early Saloons, etc.

Welcome to the forum Tony,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Presumably you are using "clutch burn" comparatively to describe the smell and you don't have one of the six speed manual gearbox conversions?

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.
