Help, changed belt, replaced compressor now s type won't start
Guys, I removed air intake tube, unhooked the one sensor, remove belt, started vehicle for two seconds to be sure it was bad compressor. I replaced compressor and belt now vehicle will not start. It just turn over and over. I fully charged battery, checked schrader valve for fuel. What did I miss or do?
Thanks
Thanks
Did you try to start it today?
With the early cars like yours and what you did (2 seconds of running then shutoff). You might have bore wash. So no compression while cranking because the oil on the cylinder walls has been washed off with fuel.
The first few seconds of engine operation from a cold start is very rich. So when you shut it off the fuel is left in the combustion chambers.
I would try shooting some starting fluid in the air intake while it's cranking. You need two people for that.
Can you hook up a battery charger while you crank the car? You really want full voltage for everything.

If it's bore wash, and indeed with the 4.0 it may be, have a read of previous threads for fixes. Essentially no money but some pain. Could be a lot worse!

OK but your first post said you had fuel at the schrader valve?
You don't now? Have you checked the interia switch?
It's very odd for a running car to have no fuel after a simple repair so changing the pump might not fix your problem?

The OP mentioned the car sat around for a month in between the repair (via PM's) and that resulted in the no start condition I believe
