Hello everyone
marry ChristmChristmas
all my jaguars had been going great
until yesterday
Driving along in my 2004 4.2 N/A right hand drive
had no problem with engine since I rebuilt it 12 Months ago
Then I received on Instrument cluster gear box fault
Stoped car tuned off
then started car no warning lights
went on my way no problems
when I got home I used my icarsoft cr pro scanner
And brought up two codes
P1396 variable valve timing solenoid 2 Malfunction
not sure if left or right bank
I do have spear solenoids
P0706 transmission range sensor circuit range/performance
Any help would be greatly appreciated
As hope to take this car away at Christmas
Thanking you
Darrol
What is the available battery voltage with the ignition in the off position for half an hour? Use a voltmeter across the battery terminals to read the voltage. The vehicle needs at least 12.6 volts available for all modules to function correctly.
Random DTCs and instrument cluster warnings are often caused by low available voltage.
P0706 - could it be a loose/missing bolt that's meant to hold the shift cable to the trans side? Should be two 8mm hex headed bolts (under car). Quite often come loose or even fall out.
