Damn Airbag Light - Code B1932
The airbag light has been a problem ever since I've owned my 1999 XKR convertible but it's time to tackle it, the light flashes 3 times then 2 times multiplied by 4 and then stays on.
Got the code B1932 (Drivers airbag circuit high resistance or open circuit) and readings of 4 going to the passenger airbag and 665 to the drivers airbag (I can't remember if that's volts or amps).
I understand the drivers airbag model is under the drivers seat but:
has anyone delt with this issue in the past?
Can it be repaired or will it need to be replaced?
I cant seem to find a post relating to the issue but their must be loads?
Thanks

DTCs are stored in the diagnostic module nonvolatile memory and can be accessed only through the DLC
(diagnostic link connector) using PDU or WDS
CAUTION: Measuring the resistance of airbag circuits may cause airbag deployment. Refer to
the service literature for safe testing procedures. Observe all safety precautions when diagnosing
or repairing airbag SRS systems.
Do not measure continuity directly to the SRS system.
The multimeter can trigger the airbag igniter.
The PDU or WDS is the safest way to measure.
B1932 Driver airbag circuit high resistance (above 3.5 Ω) harness: open circuit or high resistance
possible causes
Cable reel cassette: open circuit or high resistance
Driver side airbag: open circuit or high resistance
Diagnostic module failure
The DRIVER'S AIRBAG is IN THE STEERING WHEEL!

Then driver's airbag circuit is routed through the 'cassette-reel' and the SRS module is detecting OPEN CIRCUIT or HIGH RESISTANCE.
Likely a circuit fault in the column harness or cassette reel itself.
Column harness faults usually occur when people use the AUTO feature and the TILT/REACH constantly moves the harness until a wire 'fatigues'.
The steering wheel cassette reel is constantly moving while driving. (turning the wheel)
I use 'terminating-resistors' to replace airbags in the circuit to duplicate the resistance of the bag.(just move the test resistor along each plug connecting in the harness.
That way you can isolate what section of the wiring is faulty.
Jaguar issued an SRS 'termination-resistor' kit (mostly Ford Connectors) that would substitute for the airbag in the correct resistance range.
Some were 2.2 Ohms and others were 3.5 Ohms etc. Each had the correct plug to fit the harness connector.
Before we got the kit, I cut old connectors from harnesses and cassette reels and soldered resistors to the connector so I could diagnose the various Jaguars at the dealer.
The airbags themselves are pretty reliable so I would look at the wiring first.

Yes, and 'cancellation [cassette] module', etc. See motorcarman's older post:

This won't help much but worth a read....

Thanks for the posts guys, I don't trust my ability to remove plugs and resolder new ones so after reading the older link Michael listed I'm thinking I'll just buy a replacement part.

Silly question but do you think this will solve my issue?

I went to eBay and searched for Jaguar X100 Workshop Manual. There are sellers that will sell a PDF copy of the entire workbook for a few dollars. I find this a pretty valuable resource to at least get the gist of what needs to be done on some jobs.
Essentially, you pull the upper and lower steering column covers, remove the steering wheel, unplug all the wires, and unbolt the cassette. It's going to be fiddly.

..then do a page search (Ctrl-F on most browsers) for 'Workshop'. You need the 2nd Edition (1999).
I've attached the section Y2KJag mentions. Good luck!
Curious:- how do you navigate the UK annual test with no horns and an illuminated airbag telltale
You can get the Workshop Manuals in pdf format for Ł0 via the stickies. Navigate here:

The car has never really been on the road properly Michael.😜
